While I was conversing with the Gypsies, a woman made a complaint on the educational institutions which doesn’t allocate even a Tamil medium seat for their community. She also stated that Primary education has not made any progress among them.  

Barely four in a thousand can read and write. But a woman had made an effort to make her child study in the local government school after struggling for continuous 3 years. She also said that, she was not even issued the application form and also was not permitted inside the school gate for 1 year. 

The watchman actually threatened her that if she comes here again she would be prisoned. After struggling for 3 years, her child was given a seat with an unwritten agreement saying If her child seems to be mischevious or if the fees is not paid within the scheduled time, that particular child will be dismissed without prior information.
